The City of Salmon Arm is accepting applications for a Arena Attendant at the SASCU Recreation Centre. Reporting to the Manager of Parks and Roads, with operational reporting to the Operations Manager of Salmon Arm Recreation. The Arena Attendant is responsible for the installation and resurfacing of ice at the arena, including the operation and maintenance of equipment such as the refrigeration plant and ice resurfacer. This position also provides custodial service and minor repairs and maintenance for the building’s washrooms, dressing rooms, etc., During the off-season, this position performs a variety of duties mostly in the Parks and Recreation Division of Public Works as a Labourer.

Required Knowledge, Ability and Skill:

• Refrigeration Operators Certificate or equivalent
• Arena Icemaker course
• WHIMIS Training•BC Drivers License, Class 5.
• Ability to perform minor mechanical repairs.
• Ability to monitor and maintain an ice refrigeration plant
• A minimum of 2 years previous experience in the maintenance and operation of an ice arena.
