Current opportunities

Casual Custodian

The City of Salmon Arm is currently seeking a casual custodian to work in the Leisure Services Department [Shaw Centre, Recreation Centre].  The work performed will occur during the evenings and on week-ends, primarily evenings, following the Silverback hockey games as well as events at the SASCU Recreation Centre.  The duties of this position are physically demanding and include:

  • Janitorial maintenance such as cleaning bleachers, garbage pick-up, emptying garbage cans, cleaning change rooms and washrooms, mopping floors, vacuuming, dusting, etc. to ensure a clean, healthy working and user environment for all employees, users and the public.

  • Set up and take down of equipment, including tables and chairs for programs and rental functions at both the Shaw Centre and Recreation Centre.

This position has shifts approximately 4 - 16 hours per week for the winter period to late April, depending on rental functions.

Rate of pay for this part-time position is $19.77 per hour.

Food and Beverage Services Worker
 
The Shuswap Recreation Society is seeking applications for part-time concession workers at the Shaw Centre in Salmon Arm. Reporting to the Food Services Manager, concession  workers are expected to provide a high level of food quality and customer service to the patrons and visitors at the Shaw Centre. The shifts will involve evening and weekend work and  is seasonal.
 
Position details are as follows:  
 
     • Customer Service;
 
     • Basic food preparation;
 
     • Cash handling;
 
     • Inventory counts;
 
     • Cleaning; 
 
    • Compliance with designated policies and procedures;   

 

Candidates will be required to obtain a “Foodsafe” certificate prior to starting work.

Lifeguards/Aquafit Instructors - Part-time 
The City of Salmon Arm is currently seeking Lifeguards/Instructors at the SASCU Recreation Centre. These positions are part-time (including evening and weekend shifts). Applicants must hold a National Lifeguard (NL), CPR Level C and Water Safety Instructor (WSI) award. Preferred qualifications include Lifesaving Instructor, Aqua-fit Instructor and AED training.
